Author
Hi there, I'm Simon, the author of the dark subconscious thriller, Door 808. In 2013, during the long train rides home from my 9-5 job, I began toying with the idea of writing my own novel. I would set distractions aside, play some music (Usually Stone Sour) and start filling my notebook. I had an endless amount of ideas, but the problem was, I disadvantaged in the writing department, having only two regretful Ds in GCSE English to my name.
Knowing that my English language and literature weren't up to par, I felt like a fraud for even considering it as a serious possibility. However, the idea of telling my story was far more compelling than the fear of being made fun of. The ultimate goal was to hold a physical copy of my story, and if nobody read it but me, that would be absolutely okay.
In 2025, I finally finished the story I wanted to tell for so long. Twelve years is a long time, but I spent the majority of that time slowly working things out on my own, figuring out my own style, re-writing the story dozens of times, learning how to storyboard but most of all how to tell a story. I'm not saying I've done a good job with Door 808, that'd be for the reader to decide, but I am very happy with how it turned out.
I know you came here to learn about me, but I just wanted to say that if you ever thought about writing your own story, do it, it's so mentally rewarding. Don't worry about what anyone else might think about it, because as long as you're proud of it, that's all that matters. Good luck! :)
